I haven't taken any pictures outside for ages mainly b/c the weather but I found this pic I forgot to share with a couple of recent makes. The fabric is that gorgeous textured knit from @1stforfabrics that @susanyoungsewing put me on to. I made a(nother) #kindercardigan, which I reach for all the time and a simple tube skirt (falling in love with these this winter). This knit is soooo warm and cuddly.
#fiberuarychallenge2021 Currently wearing.... I know this prompt was a few days ago but I am wearing knitwear today. This should have been in my Made in 2020 post. This experimental freestyle cardi happened almost by itself. No pattern just an idea from a years old pin. I've got plans.
The OH just had his first shot so we're celebrating with the champers we couldn't share with anyone at Xmas/NY. I've still got a while to wait but I'm so glad we are one step closer to safety.
#fiberuarychallenge2021 Day 10 WIP. Confession - I'm an incurable project hopper. Sometimes I get stuck, sometimes I get bored, sometimes I get distracted by a more exciting project. The first two are my longest ever UFOs we're almost talking decades. 3 and 4 are recent cast ons. One small bonus of this pandemic is having the time to put into these. They WILL be finished in 2021!
OK at the risk of milking this too much, here is my finished knitted lights project I made back in December. @suestoney and @morrissews both asked what I did with it. I trimmed the video and forgot to include this still. The original idea was a wall hanging but I made this abstract heart. I wore it like this throughout xmas but now I need to find somewhere to hang it. At the time I was so excited by the response, that I made a video of the process but I couldn't upload it to igtv. Xmas came and went and the moment was gone. Anyway, I've stuck it on my dormant YouTube, if you have a spare 10 minutes to have look (link in bio).
Made in 2020 ... Day 4 on Day 5 of #fiberuarychallenge2021. This beautiful but unusual knit project was my favourite make of 2020. #knittedIights inspired by @leila_raven. I returned to knitting in 2020 and joined two test knits to help me get to the finish line.
For #fiberuarychallenge2021 , I'm a day behind but couldn't skip reposting this #tbt to This day last year. I was far away from home in what turned out to be a different time BTP i.e. before the pandemic. I hadn't revived my knitting yet, but this prompt was so poignant because it was me doing my absolute favourite thing which is travel. Obviously, now we are locked down at home and it's what I miss most. Perversely, not being able to travel is what brought me back to knitting. All that time on my hands meant that I could keep a promise I made to myself when I retired that I would do the creative things I felt too busy for. There are often positives when everything seems to be going wrong.
The unexpectedly beautiful innards of this spinach and sweetcorn muffin deserved to be shared. I have a lovely partner who keeps me well fed but of late I've been let loose in the kitchen and this was one of the results. Day 2 of #fiberuarychallenge2021 is "When I'm not crafting..." atm I'm crafting or plotting crafting or looking at other peoples' crafting most of the time. However, as I've said before I have a lot of hobbies and I'm a bit of a geek. I was a teacher and have always considered myself a lifelong learner, I'm a lover of documentaries and quizzes as well as old episodes of Law and Order. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I want to make time for other crafty hobbies like painting and modelling. My Spanish is getting rusty and my keyboard is dusty! I'm also trying to make up for the lack of travel by watching lots of travel shows. Finally, I'm aiming to settle into reading more - both fiction and more importantly about Black history and liberation. Last year started a burst of learning and there is so much I want to know more about.
OK, I know I always do this... I procrastinate and kind of join a challenge. In the spirit of dipping in and out and keeping it fun, I'm going to do a bit of #fiberuarychallenge hosted by lovely Ceci of @creativececi. I've admired Ceci from afar but as I was mostly sewing, I wasn't really aware of this #fiberuary before. I dug out my yarn and I've been knitting up a little stormlet recently, so I decided I would join in and celebrate all things knitting, crochet, weaving and generally fibre craft related. So here is my intro/selfie, I'm Elaine, a retired teacher and self confessed wanna do it all gal. I've dabbled in all sorts of crafts over the years and now that I've retired I've got time to flex my rusty craft muscles and get back into it. I learned to knit and crochet from my mum as a child, but you guessed it, as it came time to 'Adult' those fell by the wayside. I'm wearing the sweater that got me back into the knitting game and I'm ridiculously pleased with it and looking forward to making more, if I can squeeze it in between my sewing and my rekindled love of baking. Looking forward to meeting some knitty peeps here.
