Well, the first thing I’m going to tell you about my #makenine2020 is that I’m not making one. If that sounds like a strange way to start a resolutions article let me explain..
I published a #makenine in 2018 and 2019 due in part to FOMO but also because it seemed a good idea to set my stall out and to try to organise my sewing. Having finished neither year, I questioned whether it was a good idea for me to start another one.
So how did 2019 go sewing-wise? My sewing tally became sewing mostly Breaking the Pattern. I’ve never really been too much into sewing multiples of a pattern but I fell hard for Ruska and now have two Ruska knot dresses and two knot tees as well as my Halla coat, which tied with my Kaste dress for favourite make of the year. A Sade blouse and Rae pants also came out of that book
The OH is still awaiting his jacket and may well have to wait until next autumn for it. All of the plans involving drafting are on the back burner. I either haven’t had time or (sometimes) the motivation to dig into this yet and I feel I must devote some serious time to learning the techniques. This is something I want to do ‘properly’. As for the homewares; the curtains are still the same and once I examined my sofa, I realised that because it was a recliner and in several pieces, covering it would take far more expertise than I possess. Also the sofa itself was in a state of collapse so I ended up buying a new one.
As far as sewing goes I am a style magpie and I still want to sew ALL the things! I am a prolific project starter and I always have several objects on the go at once and a lot of UFOs languishing in the corners. My pledge to myself this year is to work on some of these.
I noticed some people did #finishnine last year and that’s what I intend to do first. Bear in mind I have more than nine UFOs in my sewing space 😁 so there will have to be a selection process – I’ll have to delve into that at another time.

OK here’s the rub. I’ve never been good at keeping resolutions of any kind and I’ve got form for not sticking to the plan. It’s impossible for me to say I won’t see new things that make me drool and want to make them (probably as soon as I see someone else’s #makenine) but I am going to try my bestest to keep this promise.
What’s on your #makenine list? … no don’t tell me, I’ll probably want to make them too.
Thanks for dropping by.
