Well I’m later than most but I had a lot to think about. I’ve now got some plans gathered for my 2022 sewing and making. I really ummed and ahhed over creating a Make 9 this year as much like New Year’s resolutions it can be a bit demoralising when I don’t complete them.
Making Butterick B6723 for Love Sewing Magazine 103
Of many good things that happened for me via sewing last year, this was one of the highlights. I can finally reveal that I was invited to do a Readers Review for Love Sewing magazine. Needless to say, I was very excited. Butterick B6723 is a dress pattern with two views: one is a straight […]
2021 in the Rearview Mirror
Oh gosh, the first week of 2022 has already gone by and I am not ready! I found myself busy doing 2021 things right up to the last knockings and so had not thought of the reviews, roundups and planning that were required to close down 2021 and set up 2022! I managed – just […]
Desiginin’ December 2021: Contender Number 2
This second project for Linda’s @nicedressthanksimadeit challenge is based on an image that has travelled from the internet via various phones to Pinterest over the course of nearly a decade. I saw this catwalk look somewhere and it just stuck in my head. The image was old when I first saw it and for a […]
Basics B*tches
As it’s approaching the time of year when we start thinking about glamour and glitz, who wants to know about what I made a lot of back in the summer – BASICS of course!
Mustard and white striped trousers
Ever since I bought this piece of yellow and white striped linen a picture of a pair of light, swishy trousers floated into my head and once I got my hands on the finalised @PatternlabLdn trouser block, I was determined to use that to create the summer pants of my dreams. I’ve been dabbling with […]
Finlayson Sweater Hoodie Dress hack
Do you ever do ‘stream of consciousness’ sewing? Sometimes I make it up as I go along.
Me Made May…the rest of it
I had intended to do a week by week recap of #MMM21 but, well stuff happened. So in order to bring this to a close I decided to just put the rest of the weeks into one post.
Halla Coat – Breaking the Pattern
A third of the year has already gone and I have just published my MakeNine for 2019. Although I have made a few items this year already, I’m now embarking on one of the more prominent ones. I don’t really like getting caught up in hype and typically the fact that everyone likes a thing […]
My Sewing review of 2018 – Helter Skelter, See Saw, Bumper Cars:
2018 It was up, then it was down, It was fast then it was slow, I was here and I was there. It was a good year overall but the end of 2018 tells me I need to be a little less That Random Madam. I set myself a Make Nine challenge at the end of […]
Self drafted T-shirt goes long – taking it to the Maxi.
In March I was getting my sewjo back with a vengeance and sewed my first self-drafted item for a while. I made a simple T-shirt based on an old RTW favourite and used some dramatic fabric to give it life. I’m going to use the same technique and extend that self-made pattern into a maxi […]
Something tells me I’m into something good.
There I was sitting at my computer trying to force myself to complete the hundreds of exam scripts I still had to mark, I hear the third knock at the door this morning. It’s not as if I need distracting anymore than I can do myself. I have had to put my phone away so […]
